April 1, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm$7.00
ROEBLING, N.J. – The Roebling Museum is proud to present another installment of its monthly, Saturday Lecture Series. On Saturday, April 1st at 1pm, author, illustrator and typographer, Hal Taylor, will visit the museum to discuss his book, The Illustrated Delaware River: The History of a Great American River.
Filled with 140 finely-crafted original drawings and paintings, this book is designed to guide readers as they explore the rich and diverse heritage of the historic Delaware River Valley. This waterway that defines the common borders of the states of Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York has hosted some of the most monumental events in the history of the United States. From its discovery by Henry Hudson over 400 years ago, to its crossing by George Washington during the Revolution, and through its course of over 330 miles, the Delaware River offers us much to learn. The guide introduces readers to the events, places, and people that make the Delaware one of America’s truly great rivers. This includes, the historic Village of Roebling, NJ, a planned community and “company town” built for the workers of the John A. Roebling’s Sons Company in 1905, and a river town nestled along the growing Delaware River Heritage Trail.
This presentation is appropriate for all ages, and will take place inside the Roebling Museum’s Media Room. It is part of the museum’s monthly Saturday Lecture Series. Admission is $7 ($6 for Museum Members). Advance reservations are strongly recommended.
