April 23, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
$15.00
Join former educator, George Lengel and former park ranger, Doug Kiovsky, as they take a trip through time to experience what life was like for those who resided and worked in this unique model company town during the first half of the 20th century. This tour will explore the perimeter of the village and sites west of Sixth Avenue; the former slag deposti area and its incorporation into beautified Roebling Park; location of the Boy Scout hut, clay tennis courts and “pest” house; the creation of the Roebling Public School, the Recreation Center, and Roebling Ball Park heroes. The tour will also include the interior of the Roebling Auditorium and its marvelous technology as one of the country’s earliest public structures installed with air-conditioning. As a special feature, the tour may include a brief look inside a residential home.
The Museum is located at 100 Second Avenue in Roebling, NJ Ample parking is available in the museum lot off Hornberger Avenue, adjacent to the Roebling River Line parking area. The River Line has a Roebling stop just behind the museum. Visitors are encouraged not to park on 2nd Avenue on the residential side of the building.
