March is Women’s History Month and though we do not want to take away from the amazing Women who have paved the way for Women of today, we wanted to interview an organization that will one day be read about in the celebrated National Women’s History Month. So this interview is for the future Women of America to read about.
The program is called Dress for Success and our interview is with Central New Jersey Dress for Success program!
DRESS FOR SUCCESS HISTORY
In 1996, second-year law student Nancy Lublin received a $5,000 inheritance from her great-grandfather and decided to turn this gift into one that would keep on giving. She teamed up with three nuns in her area and, identifying a crucial need that was not being filled, founded Dress for Success in the basement of a church in Manhattan that same year. From that original basement boutique, the mission of Dress for Success spread over all of North America and then across the globe, demonstrating that achieving economic independence is a challenge that all women face regardless of their location, language, customs or culture.
